Flooring techniques: Lay the boards parallel to the longest wall and lay flooring tiles on a diagonal.
Carpets: Select a lighter colored carpet and put in a good position between the furniture pieces.
Furniture: Use big furniture pieces with storage and a few small, sleek wall-mounted piecestry pulling the arrangement toward the center of the room.
Raising the ceiling techniques: Raise the ceiling by installing crown molding, painting vertical stripes and with dark walls and bold ceiling paint.
Lighting: Uplight the ceiling and use directional down lights.
