Cheap, Cozy, Comfortable & Chic, Infusing new life in your old living room can be a very daunting task; especially if you have to take into consideration the costs & the harmonious feel you so much want to create.
You want everyone to feel happy as they sit in that dream room so you redo the floors and change the position of say a sofa. All this needs a certain idea or theme that makes things change from chaotic, erratic and old to modern, chic & simple. Nowadays, styles are getting more and more personalized; so you have to think of your own style as you make changes. The easiest thing to begin with seems to be the walls as the paints used are relatively cheap and of course walls are stable, fixed and durable; or they are supposed to be! You must remember that paints need a primer and some planning as well.
If you cannot afford to buy new furniture; no problem! You may buy second hand pieces, go to auctions or may be sample e-brochures for better deals. Better still, you may revamp your old lamps, fans, shelves etc.
Start by cleaning the room; then take off the old paintings, posters, portraits etc. Don’t throw away the wooden pieces of furniture. Change the pillows, the curtains, sheets or anything made of plastic or metal (rusty) but you may keep the tables – repaint them or may be add some mosaics on top.
For inspiration what best to use than the internet? May be an Ikea catalogue or the furniture sections in magazines you buy or borrow..…This way you will limit the cost to the minimum.
Color is essential when you think of furniture. In fact, it can beautify or spoil everything. If in doubt check the color wheel; match & mix-match colors why not? The styles vary off course. There are modern, vintage, romantic or a mixture of several styles according to your whim. You should decide beforehand and plan ahead so that everything will fall in its place once you decide on what you need to do.
The living room is the place other people come to sit in most of the time. It should be cozy, welcoming & reflect your own taste & choices as it is a vital area in your home. Colors of course will play the trick. Mirrors too can be used if you want it to appear bigger.
You have to keep in mind a very simple rule; “Change makes everyone happy!”
